“Music is God’s gift to man, the only art of heaven given to Earth, the only art of Earth we take with us to heaven.”
This past weekend, I had the opportunity to experience once again the power of music’s connection to heaven.
Valley City, North Dakota is a tiny town in the middle of nowhere that is, amazingly to me, the home of a college campus. This week, the small campus gifted me with something absolutely incredible. Three hundred twenty young women from all over North Dakota gathered together for the week to spend time together and learn about God during what they call “Encampment.”
I wrote a song for this gathering, based on the following scripture found in The New Testament of The Bible:
“For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
The song is called “Treasure Him,” and hearing these hundreds of beautiful girls sing it throughout the week, getting to know them through teaching music workshops, having fun with some spontaneous jam sessions, and enjoying the extraordinary messages presented by the other speakers present has somehow touched me in a way that I will never forget! I feel that I have now come many steps closer toward truly understanding what a treasure each and every one of us is to our loving Father in Heaven.
I am so thankful to my Heavenly Father for blessing me with this incredible experience and can’t wait to share “Treasure Him” with the world as part of my new album that will be released this autumn.
